The Hartford County Maryland Health Department is making the path to Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) recovery more attainable for local patients. The first step, providing patients access to the Sparrow Therapy System to overcome withdrawal symptoms. "One of the biggest barriers for opiate recovery is overcoming opioid withdrawal. Withdrawal is probably the most difficult to get to the other side of recovery," said Dr. Julie Stancliff, medical director at the Harford County Health Department Behavioral Health Bureau. "It will help them get through the withdrawal, so that if their end goal is to be opiate free, then we can be able to make that happen for them."
